Think sustainable and scrumptious, think De Krat! Since 2010, De Krat has been taking care of its customers’ culinary needs. It doesn’t just put together the tastiest recipes, it also delivers a Krat (box) of the most delicious sustainable produce right to your door. All-in-all, a great company that WHITE would gladly work for. So, we were delighted and honoured when De Krat chose WHITE as its digital partner in 2019.
Smooth process thanks to the flexibility of Craft CMS
The De Krat project is a shining example of the flexibility of Craft CMS. The company is all about sustainable meal kits crammed with seasonal produce sourced from small-scale Dutch farmers and growers. These kits are home-delivered to customers so that they can enjoy freshly made, hassle-free meals every day. However, ‘home-delivered’ and ‘fresh’ mean that it’s very important to the company that certain processes run smoothly. In 2019, De Krat entrusted WHITE with its existing website and we eagerly took on this challenge. Having first implemented the changes necessary for making a fresh start, we moved forward with improvements and expansions. And even though we still have great ideas for the further optimisation of this website, we’re already extremely proud of the results we’ve achieved since the start of our collaboration!
Stepping up to a higher level
There’s a lot involved in creating and effectively maintaining a website for a meal kit service. Such a custom webshop can’t simply be designed using a standard template. Instead, it takes a lot of customisation. Most of this customisation revolves around the complicated structure of aspects like subscriptions, preferences, exceptions, one-off orders and shipping deadlines. Once we were familiar with the complex systems and many exceptions, we started on what we can call a transformation – especially in terms of the backend. Over the course of a few steps, the existing Craft CMS website was elevated to a higher level. What we worked on to achieve this included improvement of the checkout process, creation of account pages, connection with Reeleezee & the various carriers and making (transactional) emails adaptable. So, the platform has been fully geared to suit De Krat’s specific e-commerce requirements. In a nutshell, it’s a fabulous example of customisation!
